Rohingya shot dead by ‘yaba traders’ in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A Rohingya man guard was killed in a gunfight between two groups of ‘yaba traders’ on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Jafar Alam, a resident of Noyapara Muchni camp in the district’s Teknaf Upazila.

Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Asadud-Zaman Chowdhury said the incident took place in Sabrang Sluice Gate no. 5 area. BGB personnel detained Jafar Alam from Nayapara of Teknaf on Tuesday. Later, following his information, the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area today.

Meanwhile, some suspected drug traders opened fire aiming the BGB team. In reply, BGB also opened fire, leaving Jafar bullet injured. Later, the bullet injured was sent to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.
