Rohingyas are illegal immigrants: Rajnath

International Desk: Indian Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday lashed at Rohingya supporters including NHRC saying that they are not refugees but illegal migrants.

NHRC recently approached SC opposing government's decision to deport Rohingyas.

The minister says there is a process to get refugee status which Rohingyas have not followed, so they are illegal immigrants.

Singh asks "When Myanmar has no problem in taking them back, why you (a few people in India) have objection to deportation of Rohingyas?"

Singh also said that India was not violating any international law in deporting the Rohingyas.

"We are not violating any international law by deporting Rohingyas back because we have not signed UN convention," says Rajnath Singh.

"We are providing all humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh in handling Rohingya crisis," he added.
