Rumour monitoring cell formed

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has formed an eight-member rumour monitoring cell ahead of the forthcoming 11th general election.

SM Asaduzzaman, director (Public Relations) of EC, confirmed the news on Wednesday.

He said, “From now on the cell will monitor rumours and propaganda centering the election on social media for 24 hours.”

According to circulation issued in this regard, the monitoring cell was formed headed by brigadier general Saidul Islam, Director General of National Identity Registration Wing. Of the other members of the cell, a delegation was taken from each of Headquarters of Police, Special Branch (SP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC), National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) and senior maintenance engineer of EC.
