Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has rejected a leave to appeal filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging the High Court's order that cleared way for a Dhaka court to continue trial in a graft case filed against her.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division of SC headed by the Acting Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order on Monday.
Senior lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali and Advocate Zakir Hossain stood for BNP Chief Khaleda Zia while Advocate Khurshid Alam moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the court.
On August 20, the HC cleared the way for the Senior Special Judge's Court-5 of Dhaka to continue trial proceedings of Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case filed against Khaleda and others.
