SC stays bail of MP Rana for 4 months

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has halted the bail order of Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana for four months in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Monday.
The court also directed the lower court to settle the case within six months.
Attorney general Mahbubey Alam stood for the state while lawyer Abdul Baset Majumdar, Rokon Uddin Mahmud and Rousseau Mostafa moved for MP Rana.
Earlier, on April 13, the High Court granted bail to Rana in the murder case.
Awami League leader Faruk Ahmed was shot dead in front of his residence in Tangail district town on 18 January 2013. Later, Faruk’s wife Nahar Ahmed filed a case in this connection.
