SC upholds Khaleda's bail in murder case

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld a High Court order that granted bail to BNP Chief Khaleda Zia in a case filed for killing eight people in Cumilla.
A four-member bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Sunday.
Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali move for Khaled Zia while attorney general Mahbube Alam and deputy attorney general Dr Bashir Ullah stood for the state during the bail hearing.
Earlier on March 31, the Appellate Division stayed the High Court order that had granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed over the deaths of eight people. Chamber Judge Md Nuruzzaman passed the order and sent the petition to the full bench of the Appellate Division for hearing on April 7.
The case was filed after eight people were killed and 20 others injured by torching a bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla's Chouddagram during a blockade programme by the BNP-led alliance in 2015.
