Staff Correspondent: Daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar passed away tonight (Monday night) at a hospital in Singapore (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

He was 75.

Sarwar, also a prominent journalist of the country, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital around 9:25pm (Bangladesh time).

Golam Sarwar, and also the president of Editors' Council, was suffering from cardiac diseases and lung complications.

On July 29, he was admitted to Labaid hospital in Dhaka following a heart attack.

Later, he was taken to Singapore General Hospital for better treatment on August 3 (Friday).

Journalist Golam Sarwar was born on April 1, 1943 at Banaripara in Barisal.

Golam Sarwar, who also served as chairman of the board of directors of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), obtained his Master’s degree in Bangla literature with honours from Dhaka University. He started his carrier as a journalist in 1963.
