Sayedee’s review petitions on SC cause list

Staff Correspondent:  Two review petitions filed regarding the verdict of war crimes convict Delwar Hossain Sayedee have appeared on the cause list of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division.

According to Supreme Court’s website, the review petitions of the government and the Jamaat leader is listed at serial 147 on the cause list of Monday.

Sayedee was given the death penalty on two counts of crimes against humanity in 2013 by the war crimes tribunal.

Sayedee appealed against the death sentence in the Supreme Court and it was commuted to death until prison.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader appealed against the tribunal verdict seeking acquittal while the state pleaded for sentence on the six other proven charges.
