Sea plane crash kills 6 in Australia

International Desk: Four Brits, a schoolboy and a pilot have been killed after a sea plane horror crash in Australia, it is reported.

An 11-year-old boy and the aircraft's pilot are also thought to have died in the tragedy on the Hawkesbury River in Sydney shortly after 3pm local time (4am UK time).

Three of the bodies have so far been recovered and police divers are at the scene.

Commander of the Kurung-Gai Local Area Command, Acting Superintendent Michael Gorman, said work was under way to locate the missing three people.

He confirmed that the pilot and five passengers had died, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Reporter Freya Cole, of 7 News, tweeted: "Among the six victims are believed to be an 11 year old boy, the pilot and 4 British nationals."

The cause of the crash is currently unclear.

A Sydney Seaplane spokesman confirmed it was one of their aircraft involved in the devastating crash and that they were working with police.

“Obviously we are very concerned and trying to determine the details at this point," the spokesman told the newspaper.
