Seaports asked to hoist cautionary signal 1

Staff Correspondent: A depression has created over southeast bay and adjoining area.

It moved slightly north-northwestwards over the same area and was centred at 6:00am Thursday about 1,400 kilometres southwest of Chittagong port, 1,330 kilometres southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1,375 kilometres South or southwest of Mongla port and 1,335 kilometres south or southwest of Payra port.

According to a special bulletin of the Met office, it is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesternly direction.

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal No 1.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kilometres of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boat and trawler over North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
