Separate lightning strikes kill 8

Desk Report: At least eight people were killed in separate lightning strikes in Faridpur, Manikganj, Kushtia and Magura, Jhalokathi and Patuakhali districts.

The incidents took place on Monday.

According to the reports sent by risingbd district correspondents:

In Faridpur, Omar Ali was killed in lightning strike at Kobirpur village in Sadar upazila while he was working in the field during rain. He hailed from Natore district.

A day labourer named Kabul was also killed in lightning strike in Charvadrason upazila of the district while working in the field. Kabul hailed from Kushtia district.

In Manikganj, a school student named Ruhul Sheikh (7) was killed in lightning strike at Burulia village in Shibaloy upazila of the district.

In Kushtia, a teenager named Badshah was killed in lightning strike at Thakurpara village in Daulatpur upazila in the morning.

In Magura, two farmers were killed in lightning strike in the district. The deceased were identified as Asad Sheikh, 50, son of Abdul Wahed and Polondi Joardar, 40, son of Ripu Joardar.

In Jhalokathi, a farmer named Zakir Hosain Akon (45) was killed in lightning strike in the Sadar upazila.

In Patuakhali, 50-year old Md Kader Gazi was killed in lightning strike in the Dumki upazila of the district. He was a madrasa teacher.
