Seven murder is unforgivable: AG

Staff Correspondent: Terming the Narayanganj's seven murder offence unforgivable, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said the exemplary punishment handed down by the trial court in the case should be upheld in the High Court (HC) verdict.

The AG told this to the reporters at his Supreme Court's office on Wednesday, after the HC fixed August 13 to announce its verdict on the appeals and death references in the case.

Mahbubey Alam said, "The hearing in the case has been concluded. HC fixed August 13 for its judgment in the case.  We told the court in our submission that the brutal, diabolic and gruesome murder is unforgivable. The exemplary punishment sentenced to the accused by the trial court should be upheld for them."

We also mentioned that Nur Hossain decided to kill Nazrul Islam to wipe him out forever. Later, they also killed others with Nazrul.  A lawyer also lost his life in the brutal killing that is very regretful. The manners they followed to kill the seven is rare. They took the decision of murder seven days ago of the incident and formed a team to commit the offence, he added.

"They also used cars of people who would murder them. They first took them to Narsingdi by the cars. Then they killed and dumped them in river by a trawler, we said in the submission," he revealed.

"They tied up sacks filled with bricks, sand to the bodies so that the bodies could not float on water and no clues could be found.  We do not know whether the any murder happened in such pre-planned and systematic manners, we mentioned," he said.

He said, "The punishment should be upheld as several members of law enforcement agencies are involved in the murder. If it is upheld, people will realize nobody is above law. It must be a step of establishing the rule of law. Everybody is equal to the eyes of law."
