Shahreen doing well, doctor says

Staff Correspondent: Shahreen Ahmed, who sustained injuries in her legs in a tragic plane crash in Nepal, has been brought to the country. She has been admitted to the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

She has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Burn unit and is currently doing well, according to Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of DMCH.

He said, “Shahreen sustained 7 percent burns on her two legs. We suggested four to five tests to know her condition. After we would receive the reports, we will take decision what type of treatment she will be provided.”

He, however, hopes to get reports within a day or two.

“After getting reports, we will fix our activities. A medical team will be formed if it is needed. But I saw her that she was doing well,” said Samanta Lal.

Earlier around 5:00pm on Thursday, Dr Samanta Lal Sen received Shahreen as an ambulance carrying her reached there.

Shahreen was known as a daughter of Major (rtd) Saifuddin Ahmed and Ferdousi Mostak copule.

Shahreen’s brother Sarfaraz Ahmed, who accompanied her while returning to the country, said, “She (Shahreen) was sitting back site in the row of the plane crashed in Nepal. She was brought to DMCH around 5:04pm.”

At least 50 people including 26 Bangladeshis were killed as an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines- with 67 passengers and four crews on board- crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu in Nepal on Monday.

The airliner crashed after making an unexpected turn in cloudy weather as it came in to land at the airport in Nepal's capital.
