Entertainment Desk: Award winning noted singer Shammi Akhter has been laid to eternal rest at Shahjahanpur graveyard in the capital around 2:30pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, her Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Aminbag Jame Mosque in the capital’s Shantinagar area after Zohr prayers.
Shammi Akhter, 62, died of cancer in a hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Born on February 16, 1957, she had been suffering from breast cancer for last six years.
She left behind husband, a son, and a host of friends, relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn her death.
The eminent singer won Bangladesh National Film Award in 2010.
Her popular renditions like Dhaka Shohor Aisa Amar Asha Furaichhe, Ami Jemon Achhi Temon Robo Bow Hobonare, Bhalobasleo Sobar Sathe Ghor Badha Jaina and others won the hearts of millions.
