Shawwal moon not sighted, Eid on Thursday

Staff Correspondent: The Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on Thursday as the Shawal moon was not sighted anywhere of the country’s sky on Tuesday evening.

The National Moon Sighting Committee came up with the announcement at 8:45pm, after reviewing the information of the Shawwal moon sighting from around the country.

Speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said the new crescent moon was sighted nowhere in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
