Shift chemical godowns swiftly: DSCC Mayor

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon asked people concerned to remove all chemical godowns from residential houses of the capital rapidly.

“Legal steps must be taken against the owners if chemical godowns are found at their houses,” he added.

The mayor on Saturday said this after visiting Wahed Mansion from where the deadly fire originated at Chawkbazar in old Dhaka on Wednesday night.

Sayed Khokon said, “A video footage found showed that the fire originated after blasting gas cylinder of a vehicle."

Police also informed him the same reason, he added.

Officials of DSCC were also present there.

Some people who gathered there from earlier chanted various slogans demanding use of gas cylinder after the mayor left the place.
