Shimul murder: Mayor Miru, 37 others charge-sheeted

Sirajganj Correspondent: Police on Tuesday submitted charge-sheets against 38 people, including Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru, in connection with the journalist Shimul murder case.

Investigation Officer Monirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (Probe) of Shahzadpur police station, submitted the charges to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Hasibul Haque.

Confirming the matter, Shahzadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Kibria said that of the accused, 14 are now in jail and others remained fugitive.

On February 2, Journalist Shimul sustained bullet wounds during a clash in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur.

Shimul succumbed to his injuries around 1:00pm on the following day while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment.
