Shooting heard, grenade hurled at cops from ‘militant den’

Moulvibazar Correspondent: Shelling was heard and grenades were hurled by suspected militants targeting police from a “hideout” in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning as Police's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit cordoned off two separate houses at Moulvibazar in Sylhet early today.

Shootings are being heard and grenades are being hurled at police from the house of Borohat area, reports our correspondent quoting police.

Law enforcers have surrounded a two-storey house in Borohat area under Sadar municipality and a one-storey house in Fatehpur area under Khalilpur union suspecting militant dens, said Mohammad Shahjalal, superintendent of police in Moulvibazar.

Later, Rapid Action Battalion-9 (RAB) of Srimongol camp joined the counter terrorism unit.

The owner of both the houses is London expatriate Saiful Islam.
