Singer Shafin joins Jatiya Party

Senior Correspondent: Shafin Ahmed, one of the key figures in Bangladeshi music scene, officially joined the Jatiya Party (JP).

He met Hussain Mohammad Ershad Hussain Mohammad Ershad at his Baridhara residence on Thursday.

The musician sealed the deal by handing Ershad a bouquet. They were photographed together along with actor Sohel Rana.

Welcoming Shafin to the party, JP chairman Ershad said, “Jatiya Party do politics for the welfare of the nation and the country. Our main object is to serve people.”

He said, “People now looking at JP because of failure of the two major parties of the country to lead the state. They want to see JP in power. We want to fulfill people’s desire.”

Shafin Ahmed is a former executive member of the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM). Earlier this year, Shafin Ahmed participated in the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral elections.

The popular singer also noted that music remains his passion, and that he will focus on his music as well.
