Sri Lanka win toss, opt to bat

Sports Desk: Sri Lanka stand-in captain Upul Tharanga won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh in the second ODI of the 3-match series at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium today.

Tharanga who is playing his 200th ODI today is leading a side in their must-win match after the 90-run loss on 25 March. On the other hand, Bangladesh have a rare shot at glory, a bilateral ODI series win away from home.

The hosts rejigged their bowling attack by including Dilruwan Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara and Nuwan Pradeep in place of Lahiru Kumara, Lakshan Sandakan and Sachith Pathirana.
Bangladesh went in with the same XI that won the first ODI by 90 runs.

Tharanga said the change in tactic, from bowling first to batting, was somewhat influenced by how the pitch behaved in the first game, where Bangladesh, after being sent in to bat, posted 324.

Sri Lanka: 1 Danushka Gunathilaka, 2 Upul Tharanga (capt.), 3 Kusal Mendis, 4 Dinesh Chandimal (wk), 5 Asela Gunaratne, 6 Milinda Siriwardana, 7 Thisara Perera, 8 Dilruwan Perara, 9 Suranga Lakmal, 10 Nuwan Kulasekara, 11 Nuwan Pradeep.

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Sabbir Rahman, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Shakib Al Hasan, 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Mosaddek Hossain, 8 Mehedi Hasan, 9 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 10 Taskin Ahmed, 11 Mustafizur Rahman
