Students take to streets for 8th day

Staff Correspondent: Taking to the streets, students have been demonstrating for the consecutive eighth day demanding road safety.
Protesting students said they will continue their demonstrations until the demands which they have put forward for safe roads are met.
The students blocked Shahbagh intersection, one of the city's busiest areas, protesting Saturday’s attacks on school and college students in Jigatala during their demonstrations demanding safe roads.
Students of Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and Bangladesh University of Science of Technology (BUET) started gathering at the intersection around 11:00 am and blocked the road, disrupting vehicular movement.
When a procession of the students reached Jigatala, police fired teargas shells to disperse them around 1:00 pm.

Students also took position in Uttara House Building area, protesting the attacks around 12:00 pm.
Besides, students of East-West University took position in Rampura Bridge area around 1:00 pm.
Angered by the deaths of two college students in a tragic road accident on Airport Road in the capital on July 29, students of schools and colleges across the country took to the streets and continued their demonstration since then demanding 9-point demands, including road safety.
