Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action (RAB) arrested Md Toufique Hossain Sumon from the capital's Kamalapur on Saturday night.

RAB claimed that Sumon was engaged in collecting activists for banned outfit Ansar Al Islam.

Law enforcers seized extremist books and leaflets from his possession.

Sheikh Billal Hossain, senior assistant superintendent of police of RAB-11, confirmed the news on Sunday afternoon.

He said, "Sumon was arrested conducting a drive at Kamalapur area on Saturday night. A case was filed against him."

"Law enforcers had arrested his several associates including Iftekhar, Fahad, Rahat and Asad from the capital's Khilgaon, Sutrapur and Mohammadpur, but he (Toufique) managed to flee," he added.

"Later, he started to collect activists for the outfit as their organisation weakened due to huge activities of law enforcement agencies," Sheikh Billal Hossain said.
