Surgery of Tree Girl successful

Staff Correspondent: Doctors conducted a successful surgery to remove bark-like growths from the skin of a young girl believed to be the first female to suffer from a condition known as "tree man syndrome".

The surgery took place at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.

Plastic Surgeon and the Director of the Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit, DMCH, said "The surgery was successful and we are hoping no more surgery will be needed in future."

"10-year-old tried to keep herself alone from others due to her tell-tale growths in her chin, ear and nose. But, we are expecting her childish attitudes will return again after the successful surgery," the doctor added.

Earlier, Abul Bajandar was dubbed "tree man" because of the large, wood-like warts on his body, caused by the rare genetic condition epidermodysplasia verruciformis and made news around the world because of the rare skin condition.
