Suspected robber killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’

Kushita Correspondent: A suspected robber has been killed in a reported gunfight with DB police in the district.

The incident took place around 2.00am on Friday at Shumulia village of Khoksha upazila.

The deceased, Mintu (42), hailed from Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district.

Officer-in-Charge of DB police Sabbirul Islam said acting on secret information that a group of robbers were committing a robbery on Kushita-Rajbari highway by placing logs, a team of DB police went to the spot and sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers fired gunshots, prompting the law enforcers to fire back that triggered a gunfight, leaving Mintu dead on the spot.

Police also recovered two firearms, three native sharp weapons and two bullets from the spot.
