Take Shyamal Kanti's GD as case: HC

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has ordered Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate to receive the General Diary (GD) filed by Shyamal Kanti Bhakta over the incident of being humiliated in presence of a lawmaker.

The HC also ordered it to send the case to Dhaka's Chief Judicial Magistrate.

The HC bench of Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order on Sunday.

Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju represented the state while Additional Attorney General MK Rahman stood for the rule issued in this regard in the court.

Earlier, local Jatiya Party (JP) lawmaker Selim Osman was convicted in the judicial probe report submitted over the incident on January 19.

On May 13, 2016, Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar area, was beaten up by a mob and made to do squats holding his ears in the presence of local Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Salim Osman.
