Taken Khaleda Zia to hospital was a farce, says BNP

Senior Correspondent: BNP has termed bringing Khaleda Zia to hopspital as a matter of farce in name of treatment.

The party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said, “She was not given enough time to take preparation. She was taken to hospital forcibly.”

The BNP leader came up with the allegation in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Rizvi said, “She (Khaleda Zia) was taken to hospital unpleasantly. She was not well prepared. Some seven to eight jailers and officials told her frequently to move out for hospital quickly. As a devoted Muslim woman, she used scarf for 30-32 years. She is an elderly woman who was the country’s prime minister for three tenures.  But the government is so mean that they did not give her time to take scarf. She was brought to hospital with some kind of force.”

He said, “She was taken to room no. 512 of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), but she was not given any treatment there. It was one kind of farce in name of treatment. Her personal physicians were also not allowed to prescribe her.”

“BNP Chief Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment by her personal physicians for 15-20 years. But now they are not allowed to give her treatment,” Rizvi added.

He said, “Family members rushed to the hospital to meet Khaleda Zia immediately after they got information of taking her to BSMMU. But they were not allowed to meet her. The former three-time prime minister was manhandled at the hospital just for harassing and insulting her.”

“If anything bad happens to BNP Chief Khaleda Zia in absence of better treatment, the extreme responsibility must go to the government,” he added.
