Tamim achieves two milestones against Zimbabwe

Sports Desk: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has been in a firing form and he is breaking records one after another in the ongoing tri-nation series.

In the match against Sri Lanka, Tamim became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score 11000 International runs and in the match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, he reached two more milestones.

Tamim is now the batsman with most runs in a single venue and he has surpassed the former Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya. In Colombo’s Premadasa stadium, Jayasuriya played 71 ODIs and scored 2514 runs including 4 hundreds and 19 fifties. After the innings against Zimbabwe, Tamim has now 2549 runs in Mirpur Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium. He scored 5 hundreds and 16 fifties in this venue.

On the same day, Tamim has achieved the milestone of scoring 6000 ODI runs and from 5000 to 6000, he is the quickest player to reach to it. It took only 17 innings for Tamim to reach to 6000 runs from 5000. The previous fastest was India’s Rohit Sharma who needed 20 innings.

Tamim is also the leading run scorer of Bangladesh at the moment. The second leading scorer is Shakib Al Hasan while the third one is former captain Mushfiqur Rahim.
