State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim hands over the replica of Bangabandhu-1, the country’s first communication satellite, to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
Senior Correspondent: State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim handed over the replica of Bangabandhu-1, the country’s first communication satellite, to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The replica was handed over to the Prime Minister at the beginning of the regular cabinet meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.
The Bangabandhu-1 is scheduled to be launched in December 2017 with a cost of Tk 3,243 crore.
Among the total cost, Bangladesh government will bear the cost of TK 1,555 crore and the rest amount of money that stands TK 1,688 crore will be taken from foreign organisations as loan.
Exim Bank of the US, HSBC France, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, CWG Gulf International of the UK and the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) have showed their interests to invest at the ‘Bangabandhu Satellite’ project of Bangladesh.
