Tazia procession ends seeking world peace

Staff Correspondent: In observance of the holy Ashura, Tazia procession which was brought out from the Hussaini Dalan Imambara in Old Dhaka at 10:00am ended around 1:00pm seeking world peace and welfare of the Muslim Ummah through Munajat.

Apart from the main procession from the Imambara, the Shia community members brought out several numbers of Tazias from different part of Dhaka, marking the holy Ashura.

Holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), is observed in the country today (Friday) with due religious fervour and solemnity.

On this day in the Hijri year of 61, Hazrat Imam, the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), along with his family members and 72 followers embraced the martyrdom in the hands of Yazid’s soldiers at the desert of Karbala to uphold the teachings of the Prophet (SM).

The Shia community laments on this occasion by beating their chest with their hands in observance of Imam Hussain’s death.

MM Firoz Hossain, superintendent of Hussaini Dalan Imambara, said this year around 300 volunteers have discharged their duties on this occasion.

Adequate security measures were taken around Husaini Dalan Imambara to ensure smooth observance of Ashura.

The day is a public holiday.
