Tear shells on demonstrators on DU campus, 3 injured

Staff Correspondent: University students and job seekers took position, who were demonstrating with demands of a reform to the existing quota system in civil service at Shahbag, took positions different place on Dhaka University (DU) campus including the front part of VC building as they were charged batons and fired tear gas by cops.

Police also fired tear shells indiscriminately on them at the campus.

Demonstrators claimed that at least three students were taken hospital as they sustained injuries by the tear shells.

A student also sustained injuries at his eyes, they said.

Demonstrators urged DU VC and Proctor asking as to why they were attacked on the campus?

Students also issued an ultimatum to release demonstrators who were held from the agitation by midnight (12:00am).
