Kurigram Correspondent: Temperature in Kurigram has fallen to 7.1 degrees Celsius as a cold wave continues to sweep across the country.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the 7.1 degree temperature in Kurigram, the lowest in the country, was recorded in the 24 hours. Earlier Kurigram's temperature was 8.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
People in the district have been suffering badly due to the persisting cold weather. People, including children and elderly persons, have been suffering from different cold-related diseases including pneumonia.
The working-class people are suffering most due to the cold weather as the cold wave limited their outdoor activities to only basic necessities.
District administration sources said that 57,000 blankets have been distributed in nine upazilas already. And newly allotted 5,000 blankets are being distributed.
