Three killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘shootouts’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Three suspected drug traders were killed in separate shootouts with police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Maheshkhali and Teknaf upazilas of the district early Thursday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

RAB-7 Teknaf camp commander Lieutenant Mirza Shahed Mahtab said on information, RAB conducted a drive in Khurermukh area adjacent to Marine Drive in Teknaf this morning. Meanwhile, drug smugglers opened fire aiming the law enforcers, forcing the RAB members to fire back in self-defense. Later, two bullet-hit people were found in the spot.

Two foreign pistols, three magazines, one local made gun, four round bullets and 50,000 piece yaba were recovered from the spots. 

Besides, a suspected robber was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Matarbari area of Moheshkhali early Thursday. 

Prabash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station, said the body of the robber was kept at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue, OC added.
