Tongi train derailment: Probe body formed

Staff Correspondent: A three-member probe committee has been formed over the train derailment that left four people dead in Tongi.

A reliable source at Kamalapur Railway Station said Md Arifuzzaman, chief engineer of the eastern zone of Bangladesh Railway, has been made the head of the committee. The committee has been asked to submit a report in three working days. Action will be taken against the responsible persons in the light of the probe report.

Primarily, it is being suspected that the incident might have occurred due to signal problem. Station master has remained fugitive since after the incident, the source added.
