Torun League leader killed in Jashore

Staff Correspondent, Jashore: Miscreants killed a local leader of Torun League by shooting and blasting bombs in Natun Khayertola area of the district.

The deceased was identified as Sheikh Monirul Islam, 40, son of Fayzur Rahman.

Another one named Santosh Ghosh, 36, an activist of Jubo League, was also injured following the attack.

Locals said that Monirul Islam and Santosh Ghosh were staying in the office of Torun League around 12:30am on Monday. Meanwhile, 9-10 miscreants attacked them blasting 7-8 bombs and fired two rounds of bullets, leaving them injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Jashore General Hospital where duty doctors declared Monirul dead.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Basar said that additional police forces were deployed in the area.

Drive is underway to detain the criminals, he added.
