Staff Correspondent: Presence of harmful chemicals has been found in fifty food items including vegetables, according to a survey.
National Food Safety Laboratory (NFSL) conducted the survey titled 'An appraisal of Food Safety Survey in Bangladesh Second Round 2017'.
The report was published after microbiological examination of 465 samples of various types of foods including Noodles, Ghee, Mastered oil, Soybean oil, Cauliflower, Brinjal, Bean, Chili, Tomato, Fuchka, Jhal Muri from Dhaka, Comilla, Rajshahi, Faridpur, Pabna and Jessore.
Professor Dr Anisur Rahman, director of the institute presented the survey report in a press conference at Public health institute in the capital on Saturday.
Bangladesh food safety authority chairman Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque, Professor M Iqbal Arslan, dean of BSMMU Basic Science and Para Clinical Science, Shah Monir Hossain, Senior National Advisor of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and others attended the programme.
