Traffic jam: Transport strike called on Dhaka-Ctg highway

Staff Correspondent: Chattogram inter-district bus owners association and transport workers union called a strike on Dhaka-Chattogram route due to heavy traffic jam on Sunday.

Leaders of workers organization said no buses will ply on Dhaka-Chattogram highway from Monday morning to evening. The strike will be continued if the traffic jam situation doesn't improve.

Confirming the matter, Chattogram Inter-District Bus Owners Association General Secretary Kafil Uddin told risingbd.com that the highway became useless due to intolerable traffic jam.

"The six hour trip on the Dhaka-Chattogram route is now taking more than 20 hours. Following the situation, all types of bus service declared shut in this route. If the authority does not take steps to solve traffic jam then new programme will be announced later," he said.
