Traffic police killed in N'ganj road crash

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A traffic police officer was killed in a road accident in Shibu Market area on Dhaka-Narayanganj in the district on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Abul Kalam, 55, was working as Assistant Town Sub-Inspector (ATSI) of traffic department of Narayanganj Metropolitan Police.

Narayanganj district traffic police inspector Shariful Islam said the victim was working in Abul Kalam Shibu Market area around 11:30am. Meanwhile, a speedy covered van ran over him, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to local hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, police detained the covered van driver and helper.
