Staff Correspondent: Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon said that if transgender individuals can be members of parliament in a failed country like Pakistan, then they must be lawmakers in the fast developing countries like Bangladesh.
The Minister came up with the statement in an exchange view meeting with third gender community at his official resident in the capital’s Minto road on Friday.
He said, “Bangladesh is one of the fastest developing countries in the world with the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now, our per capita income stands at $1,752. GDP growth rate is now 7.65 percent. It is not acceptable that people of third gender, who are from our brothers and sisters, will have been neglected.”
