Treasure hunt halted for the day

Staff Correspondent: The excavation process at a house in Mirpur-10 area of the capital for unearthing a possible hidden treasure has been suspended for the day.

The treasure hunt will begin again on Sunday, said Dhaka district Executive Magistrate Md Anwar Uz Jaman.

Police and Dhaka District Administration started the digging process in two rooms of a one-storey building at Block C of Mirpur 10 at 10:00am on Saturday.

Some 20 workers were able to dig 4 feet deep into the ground till 3:45pm. But they could not find any treasure.

Later, the executive magistrate suspended the hunt for the day.

Magistrate Anwar Uz Jaman said, “The house is old one. We suspended the digging process for the day as it seemed risky. The treasure hunt will begin again on Sunday.”

He, however, could not clear when the hunt will start on Sunday.

Dadon Fakir, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said, “We started treasure hunt after a general diary (GD) was lodged with the Police Station by owner of the house. Cops will stay there until the hunt ends.”
