Sylhet Correspondent: A court in Sylhet on Tuesday started trial pressing charge sheet against six persons in a case filed over the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy.

PP (public prosecutor) Advocate Mofur Ali said that the charge sheet was accepted at the court of Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha.

Earlier on May 8, Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge Court accepted a subsidiary charge sheet accusing 6 people.

The accused are—Abul Hossain, 25, Faisal Ahmed, 27, Mamunur Rashid, 25, Mannan Yahiya alias Mannan Rahi, 24, Abul Khair Rashid Ahmed, 25 and Shafiur Rahman Farabi, 30, said.

Of the accused, 3 are absconding including Abul and Faisal while the rest 3 are in jail.

On August 28 of last year, Arman Ali, inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge-sheet accusing five persons and recommending acquittal off 11 others.

Ananta Bijoy Das was hacked to death at Subidbazar in Sylhet city on May 12, 2015 on the way to his office. Later, banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team claimed responsibility of the murder through online post.
