Trial to continue in Khaleda’s absence

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has dismissed a review petition filed against the order that decided to continue trial proceedings of the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case in absence of Khaleda Zia. 

The bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order on Sunday.

Following the order, there is no bar to continue the trial proceedings in absence of Khaleda Zia.

Advocate A J Mohammad Ali, Advocate Joynul Abedin moved for Khaleda Zia while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the anti-corruption committee.

Earlier on September 27, a review petition was filed with the High Court challenging the lower court’s decision to continue the trial of Zia Charitable Trust corruption case in absence of Khaleda Zia.
