Turkish first lady in Cox’s Bazar to see Rohingya plight

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan is now in Cox’s Bazar to meet Rohingya Muslims who fled persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
A special plane of Turkey carrying the first land arrived in Cox’s Bazar Airport around 12.00pm and she started journey to reach Teknaf around 12.30am.
Earlier, Emine Erdogan arrived in Dhaka early Thursday.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam welcomed her at the airport.
She is also expected to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the visit.
More than 125, 000 Rohingya refugees have crossed into Bangladesh as tens of thousands more were internally displaced by the latest violence on Aug 25, according to the UN agencies.
Earlier on August 31, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan phoned Bangladesh president Abdul Hamid expressing concern over the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar.
