Two Bangladeshis killed in freak accident in Malaysia

International Desk: Two Bangladeshi men died after being hit by a pile of pallets loaded with boxes of dates at a warehouse in the Lorong Perindustrian Bukit Minyak, on Sunday.

The two employees, both in their 40s, were killed during the 10:45am incident after sustaining severe injuries.

A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a distress call at 11 am before a fire engine from the Perda Fire Station was dispatched to the scene.

"When we arrived at the scene, we found the two workers unconscious and they had already been pulled out of the pile of pallets filled with boxes of dates by the other workers in the warehouse," he said.

He said based on initial investigations, the wooden pallets and boxes of dates were believed to have fallen while they were being removed from their respective shelves, hitting the two employees.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah District police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid when contacted confirmed the incident, and said the bodies of the two men were sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.

He said as of now, the case had been classified as sudden death with no criminal elements involved, however, investigations are still ongoing. _Bernama
