Two killed in separate gunfights

Staff Correspondent: Two murder accused were killed in separate gunfights with law enforcers in Mymensingh early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Alamgir, 24, and Sirajul, 23.

Ashikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the district DB police confirmed the matter.

Sources said that on Friday night DB police arrested Alamgir from Gopalganj who was wanted in sensational Abul Kashem murder case. Later, police conducted a drive in Paranganj area around 3:00am to detain other accused in the case. But, 8-10 miscreants opened fire aiming the law enforcers which triggered the gunfight, leaving Alamgir bullet injured.

Later, he was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead around 4:00am on Saturday.

On the other hand, police arrested Sirajul from Sankipara in the city last night. Later, a gunfight took place between police and Sirajul’s cohorts around 4:00am as he was taken to SA Sarkar road area during a drive to arrest his associates. Meanwhile, Sirajul received bullet injury and died on the spot.
