Two more warships added to coast guard fleet

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Two more warships have been added officially to the fleet of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
The two warships are ‘CGS Mansur Ali’ and ‘CGS Kamruzzaman’.
Captain Iqbal Hossain, Director (operational) of Coast Guard Headquarters, welcomed the warships as the chief guest formally on Friday.
The average top speed of the ships is 23 nautical miles per hour.
Coast Guard sources said that the two new warships will play an important role in preventing drug smuggling in sea routes. Besides, the ships will help to prevent pirates in sea and help to collect mineral resources, protect environment in maritime areas.
Captain Mohammed Ali Chowdhury of Coast Guard (west zone), Lieutenant Commander Abdullah Al Mamun and others attended the programme.
