Two new private universities get govt approval

Secretariat Correspondent: The government has approved two new private universities amid questions over the standards of education at the existing private universities.

Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.

The two new universities are Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University in Khulna and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Rajshahi.

The total of private universities in the country has reached 99. Eight more universities are awaiting approval.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam is the founder of the two approved universities.

Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University’s address has been shown as 140 KDA, Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Road, Chhoto Boira, Shonadanga, Khulna. Ahsania Mission University of Science and Technology’s address has been shown as 216/1 Talaimari, post- Kajla, Rajshahi.

The education ministry set a deadline for all private universities to shift to their own campus. Only 33 private universities have moved to their own campus.
