Two robbers killed in Dhaka gunfight

Staff Correspondent: Two members of a robber gang were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sat Rasta area of Tejgaon in the capital early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Naeem, 35 and Jamal, 38.

RAB-2 Sub-inspector Mostafa Kamal said, the robbers tried to flee the scene riding a pickup van around 4:30am. There was a RAB check post in the area and the law enforcers signaled the vehicle to halt. But ignoring the instruction of the RAB team, the gang members opened fire on the elite force, forcing them to retaliate in self-defence, leaving two criminals bullet injured.

The injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.

A vehicle and a foreign made pistol were seized from the spot.
