Two robbers killed in Narayanganj 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: Two suspected robbers were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Narayanganj Sadar early Monday.

Of them one was identified as Zillur, the ring leader.

RAB-11 senior assistant director Alep Uddin said a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Alirtek area of Sadar Upazila while a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery in a ship. Sensing presence of RAB personnel, robbers opened fire aiming the law enforcers which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, the robbers fled the scene.

Later, RAB recovered two bullet injured robbers from the spot and sent them to Narayanganj General Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.

A foreign made pistol, one round of bullet and some lethal weapons were recovered from the spot.
