US official visits BNP office

Senior Correspondent: An official of US embassy in Dhaka suddenly visited BNP central office of Nayapaltan in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The US official, known as the first secretary of US embassy, met the party's senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed at the office.

He entered BNP office along with a translator around 5:00pm on the day.

However, it was not clear immediately why he visited BNP office.

The Party's Central Assistant Office Secretary Belal Ahmed, who was then staying at the office, also said that he does not know name of the US official.

He, however, said he was from US embassy in Dhaka.

Belal Ahmed said, "The US official met Rizvi alone and talked to him. He left the office around 5:30pm."
