Unicef to set up 10,000 toilets for Rohingyas

Staff Correspondent: Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said, “The Rohingya people need 35,000 toilets among which Unicef will set up 10,000 toilets for them.”

It is estimated that around Tk 11.80 crore is required to set up these 10,000 toilets and the setting up of these toilets will be completed within next two months, he said.

Maya informed the Unicef that the government has already built some 7,849 toilets for Rohingyas.

The minister provided the information before holding a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with Unicef at the minister’s conference room in the secretariat on Wednesday.

Later, Country Director Edouard Beigbeder in Bangladesh in favour of Unicef signed the MoU with Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Joint Secretary M Habibul Kabir Chowdhury.
